For about 10 years now, Derek has been my coach. Whether it’s the personal training aspect or the classes I have taken, I have always felt supported, and I love the custom aspects that cater to my body and where it is at. The community and people at Thrive are lovely. It’s not a “cliquey” gym. Everyone is welcoming. If you’re looking for that personal feel, along with experience and good vibes, this just might be the place for you. Come join us!

Derek and the Thrive team are first-rate. The gym is well-equipped, clean, and well run. Thrive is a diverse community of people at various fitness levels, and Derek tailors each workout program to each member’s unique capabilities and limitations. At age 57, with Derek’s guidance and motivation, I have personally rehabbed an injured shoulder and overcome poor hip mobility to achieve levels of strength I previously never thought possible.

Thrive has changed my life, and it is impossible to fully explain how.

First, for anyone who doesn’t understand how this gym is different, it gives you personal strength training at a much more affordable price. You have a personal trainer, yes, a real live coach who works at Thrive, who writes your workout programs just for you. So, whether you sign up for two, three, or four sessions per week, your workouts are designed specifically for you.

Second, you get to complete your workouts in a small group setting. This means that when you show up for your workout, there are at most 11 other Thrivers using the gym. I would say the average class size is more like six to eight. There is one coach leading each class, and he or she is able to give you personal assistance and feedback because the class size is small. They help correct your form and motion, answer questions, spot you, and offer a ton of encouragement. You are not left to your own best guess as to how to perform the exercises that have been programmed for you.

Third, the atmosphere is fun, supportive, and non-competitive. I love the other Thrivers, who all embody that supportive spirit.

Okay, so about my experience. I joined Thrive in May 2021 and am writing this in January 2022. I had never worked with a personal trainer or followed a strength training program before. Needless to say, I was shy and nervous about joining. That vanished almost immediately after I joined.

What I love most are the coaches. They are all well-educated in the subject matter, so friendly and enthusiastic, and they genuinely care about you. There is no judgment, only a desire to help you. They create the sort of atmosphere where, even if you didn’t feel like going to the gym that day, you are so glad to be there once class starts. They are your biggest cheerleaders, but they also encourage you to be your own cheerleader. They truly listen to your feedback and help you navigate the journey toward wellness.

Also, even if your own trainer is not leading the class you attend, you are able to leave feedback and message each other, so you’re always in sync and your programming is 100% tailored to you. Plus, the coaches share feedback with each other. If something isn’t working for you, they work with you. For example, I battled knee tendinitis for several months, but with careful and specific programming, I am now pain-free.

My confidence has grown, and it feels good to prioritize my health. I am well on my way to changing my body shape, and I have gained a lot of muscle. This gym is so much more than a place to focus on physical health and strength. It has improved my mental well-being and has made me a happier person overall. I love seeing my growth and accomplishments, and I cannot thank the coaches, especially Derek, enough.

You are worth this investment of time and money. It’s your life. I wish everyone I care about had the opportunity to train at this gym because I know it would bring them only wonderful things. Thank you, Thrive!

I’ve never been one for the gym. It has always been too out of the way or too busy. Who wants to pay extra as a beginner to figure out if you’re even using the equipment correctly?

Thrive is a whole new experience. Derek is fantastic. I’ve never felt so comfortable discussing not only my goals and hopes for the future, but also how I’m feeling every step of the way. Their experience in knowing how to get me where I want to be, and keeping me motivated every step of the way, is second to none.

If you’re looking for not just a gym, but a real support system, look no further. Five stars and all the love for Thrive, all the way!

Thrive is unlike any other gym I’ve joined!

The basics: Each class is limited to 12 people. Warm-up is done as a group, then each person moves on to their personalized plan. This is programmed into an app ahead of time, so you can review the workout and individual exercise videos if you so desire. The coach is there to help show you any exercise, from demonstrating it to checking your form to simply encouraging you.

The coaches are knowledgeable and so supportive, gently pushing you to strive for more than you thought possible. In addition to these amazing coaches, there is a growing, friendly community of fellow gym-goers of all ages, shapes, and sizes.

I love Thrive. I think you will, too. Give it a try. Your first class is free! I can’t wait to see you there.

Thrive is a great place to check out if you need individualized attention but love a group atmosphere. The environment Derek and Connor have cultivated has made transitioning from CrossFit to their group fitness model amazing. Their model focuses on each individual’s needs while working out.

Not only are they great fitness coaches, but they are great wellness coaches, too, which is a major focus at Thrive. Thanks to the boys, I am working on moving better and eating well, which has led me to lose about 30 pounds so far as we continue on this journey together.

I can’t wait to get to the gym every day!

Thrive Strength & Wellness is a low-key gym that offers high-quality fitness classes. It maintains a personal feel through small group classes, which allows the trainers to provide members with one-on-one training.

The equipment is clean, the members are warm and friendly, and it has an all-around great atmosphere.
